I don't really wear a lot of makeup particularity because my skin is super sensitive. This makes finding any kind of beauty product that doesn't cause a bad reaction very difficult. Almay used to make a foundation called Wake Up Liquid Foundation that was PERFECT for my skin, however it is discontinued which is upsetting since that has been the only foundation that has ever worked for me.
Since it's back to school time I needed to pick up a new foundation or at least try one so I could have something to wear during important events and pictures. I decided to go with Almay again and tried their Almay Smart Shade skin tone matching makeup. I purchased it in the lightest shade available 100 Light.
At first use I was pretty happy with it. The color matched pretty well and it looked nice. It did feel a little heavy but the weather outside on the day I was wearing it was extremely hot, so that could be a reason the effectiveness of it was compromised. Overall the foundation was on the thicker side, it did leave my skin oily, but I was happy that I didn't have any reaction to it. But...
A few days later, after I had used it for the first time I ended up having a bad reaction to it. (It usually takes about 1-3 wears of a product for me to see if it's okay to use or not.) Now I wasn't just going to throw it away because it was brand new so now I'm just using it in small spots to cover blemishes rather than put in on all of my face at once. This method seems to be okay and doesn't cause any flare ups.
I'm still going to use it, but I would rather have the Almay Wake Me Up foundation come back because it never gave me any problems. I don't mind skipping foundation in my makeup looks, but sometimes it's nice to do your own makeup and feel dolled up.
